What is meditation? - Meditation is the focus. A way of life and living, meditation is to be in certain states of mind. There are three known states, which are as follows: Beta (Active mind, the average mind), Alpha (The calm mind), Theta (Deep unto self and soul), Delta (Unto the realms of consciousness, which is here where manifestation takes place). Now meditation has several postures, exercises, methods that are very helpful. One of my favorite postures is the Burmese posture, which you may see in this image here:
That is one posture, and there are many such as:
Pick your relaxed position, everyone is different and not the same. Now how do you meditate? Well. You may close your eyes and sit comfortably, clear yourself out all thoughts as a beginner. This is also called the void state or the void meditation, this is very helpful in magick as you don't want thoughts interfering with your workings. The next step is right after your completion of this for at least 2-15 minutes a day along with cleaning your aura and chakras (Which I will show shortly. After you have cleared your mind you should be in the alpha state. From here you begin visualizing a brilliant white light as a sphere, and it may be as bright and big as the Sun covering your entire being. Do this for 5-8 minutes, and you may as well adjust, customize this as you please. Such affirmations may be added, example A: "All negative energies and blocks of any kind that hinder my spiritual advancement are dissolved", some even use the Tetrahedron as a way to cleanse energy with the brilliant white light, so find your pace. After you hath completed this step proceed to visualize this sphere over your Crown Chakra (The Pineal Gland, the 7th, Kether) and starting from there to each Chakra to the bottom (Base/Root Chakra). You may begin doing this basic exercises for longer periods of time as a beginner for 1 month. Now, this is one way to clean your energies using only your mind. However, there are other ways too, such the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, and the Middle Pillar ritual to further out and empower the Light Body (The Astral body, the soul). This is a very basic step to cleaning out your mind from negative energies and useless thoughts, purifying your Chakras too.
What next?
You begin meditating on opening the Chakras either Via visualization, Mantras (Bija Mantras), Yoga, and other chosen methods of your own. There are plenty of exercises online and proper materials, you may purchase for physical copies of such practices, you may meditate as much as you want. The preferred time period for a beginner is 15-30 minutes and you work your way up to 2-3 hours or even more per/day. Now meditation is also used to access ESP (Extra-Sensory perception), the Psyche, Occult abilities.
